Living Proud has provided support to LGBTIQA+SB (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Asexual, Sistergirl, Brotherboy and other sexuality, gender, and bodily diverse) people and communities in WA for over 40 years. We are the longest running organisation of our kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

Living Proud is honoured to celebrate the recognition of our long-serving volunteer, Colin Longworth, who was awarded the 2025 WA Lifetime Contribution to Volunteering Award at last night’s prestigious WA Volunteer of the Year Awards ceremony. The value of Colin’s contribution to our community is immeasurable. For over 40 years, he has shown incredible compassion and commitment. He has offered peer support, helped train generations of volunteers, and stood by our community through some of its most difficult times, including the HIV/AIDS crisis. His dedication to the wellbeing and dignity of LGBTIQA+SB people in WA is inspirational. Today is National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day, a part of Domestic Violence Prevention Month. Living Proud acknowledges those who have lost their lives to family, domestic and sexual violence – especially those who are LGBTIQA+SB – and their loved ones who survive them. Family, domestic and sexual violence does not discriminate and is preventable. We all must play a role in this. As a community-based organisation Living Proud relies on its membership base! Our membership gives us our community mandate. It is also an important source of income for us.
